Coaches
Coach: Kevin Farrell
Kevin grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Woburn High School a long, long time ago where he swam
and played hockey. He joined the U.S. NAVY in 1978 and spent twenty-one years on active duty as a NAVY SEAL.
He continued working for the government after retiring from the NAVY until moving to Bloomsburg in 2006. During
his NAVY career he continued to swim and coach with Masters Swimming and regional teams. Kevin also coached
T-ball and soccer.
Kevin is married to Shelley and has two sons, Ryan and Colin. He enjoys coaching and spends all of his free time
with his family or helping kids in any way that he can.
Kevin’s coaching philosophy: “I strongly believe that no one has the exact answer to coaching kids. Every situation
and team is different. I rely on USA Swimming for guidance on technique, training and ideas that keep practice
interesting and help the swimmers improve within their individual abilities. One of my primary goals is to ensure that
the majority of kids want to go to practice and that they all feel like an important member of the team. This tends to
improve their desire to learn and retain what they are taught which is our end goal. My personal motivation for
coaching is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for kids to learn about competitive swimming. I only hope
that every child benefits from this program.
